Someone saw Collateral Beauty?

What do you think of it? Is Kate Winslet's role good?

reply

I have seen it and was not in any way a fan of it. I went into this excited and moved by the trailer, but the result felt shallow and manipulative.

Even at 1hr34min, this movie dragged and felt longer than two hours. The main conflict was resolved ridiculously easily, and there were absolutely no consequences for dangerous and immoral behavior. I could look past all the many NYC cliches and tropes in a better film, but this one had no real lesson to teach other than to look for the positive in the negative. Also, the plot twists in the resolution were either cringeworthy or confusing, and they did nothing more than confuse and unnecessarily muddle the motivations of the characters involved.

Kate Winslet's character was pretty dull and underdeveloped, although I think she did about as well as she could with the weak part she was given. I did enjoy Edward Norton and Hellen Mirren's performance in this, but less and less so as the film went on. To their credit, this was mainly a result of the writing/plot and not necessarily their performances.

If you read this in troll, it's actually pretty funny.

Unfortunately I'm not a troll. Just look at my other posts if you're in doubt of my sincerity. It'd be quite the long con if I waited 13 years to start trolling here.

Not op obviously but that's sadly what I was expecting. It looked appealing in a trailer but I quickly remembered how little time anyone im Hollywood has anymore for movies that take more than a few evenings to write.
I very rarely like "artsy fartsy" things so I hardly ever care about perfect casting and cinematography, but everything just seems so flat the vast majority of the time anymore :c

How much is Norton in it? I was going to watch mainly for him since he's one of my favorite actors, but if he doesn't have that big of a part I may skip it and wait until Netflix or Amazon gets it.

reply

He's in it a lot. He has more screen time and lines than Will Smith, and is the best part about the movie in my opinion.

how much Kate Winslet has the screen time

And how much is Winslet in it?

reply

She is in it quite a bit. Its hard to gauge how much without a stopwatch, but she is in many of the scenes and is in all acts of the film.

Will smith has made the same move like 6 damm times! I swear to god he keeps doing this samw type of garbage touchy feely type movie which is fine but they arent even anywhere near good films. Aside from concussion or AE hes done a bunch of these movies I wish I cared enough to list them for you but god damn this is going to flop and flop hard! I used to like will smith and nowI wouldn't carw if he fell off a cliff. Him and jada. And his punkass self entitled spoiled kids matter fact. That is all.
