Was this script written by a community college drama student? The whole concept seems contrived as if a pretentious 19 year old wrote it (Writing letters to things?) and the acting appears to be at the high school level as well.
Michael Pena looks out of place in this movie with his glasses trying to be a serious actor.
It actually has an experienced writer, director and cast but I agree that the concept looks and sounds stupid.
Okay, not "stupid," exactly, but certainly juvenile. And pretentious. And patronizing. And positively dripping with bathos.
