Christmas Carol anyone?

Just seems like a rehash

Everything is a rehash of something else.

I was thinking more like Sandman.

In the sandman comics there are gods called the endless who each are aspects of existence. One is a woman called death. The others are desire, destiny, destruction, dream, delirium, destiny, you could kind of say destiny is time and desire is love, though I bet these all take very different slants on it.

Also there is certainly a lot of it's a wonderful life going on, man deciding to enjoy life again after being shown things by supernatural beings, which is kind of based on Christmas Carol itself.

oddly, i kept on thinking of "vanilla sky" - the sweet isn't so sweet without the sour, etc.

i think more or less these films usually echo the lesson of living life forward, rather than dwelling into the pain of the past. This is not to say that "collateral beauty" might not have its own unique take on the parable, though.

Haven't seen it but it is clearly nothing like A Christmas Carol. Don't blame you though, the trailer gives that sort of vibe but people who have seen it are calling the trailer extremely deceptive and are angry that the movie is something different altogether. It's not a fantasy.
