Why the negative reviews?
I was really looking forward to see this, and was shocked it got a 5.2/10.
For those who saw it, what was so bad about it? Did the story not make sense, the acting, or something different?

The trailer is completely mis-marketing what its about. Its probably the most misleading trailer I can think I've ever seen especially once (20 minutes in) you know what the movie is really about. So while its not badly made per-say its quite a shock when you sit down to see the movie and realize what its about.
The movie isn't about the living embodiment of Love, Death and Time visiting a man who is going through the grief of losing a child, but a man who's business is falling apart because of that grief. When his coworkers' (who's jobs are now at risk) find out he has been writing letters to "Love" "Death" and "Time", they decide to hire some actors to approach him on the street, say they are one of these three things and talk to him. His coworkers' plans are to film these encounters, digital remove the actors they've hired and use the footage as evidence that Smith's character has lost his mind and use this to get him fired from his job so work can proceed as usual.
So basically the studio filmed a movie with a very cynical plot, didn't know what to do with it, decided to market it with a different plot basically the story from Smith's character's point of view and promote it to the holiday crowd looking for an uplifting movie for the holiday season.
You do know that they weren't actually paid actors right? Granted, the film makes you believe otherwise for much of it, but it's called a plot twist.
shareI really dont care about ads. But the movie is fine. A couple of things i would have wanted to change but a lot of great moments. I dont understand why people are complaining about the plot. Thats how cynical the world is! Preconceptions are the problem going into it. Watch it for what it is.
shareYes all of that. The story does not make sense, the acting is terrible, the script is awful, its incredibly predictable. I can't believe this movie got made let alone attracted all this talent.
