I actually liked it....
Just saw a Free Screening of this movie last night.
I don't understand the hate for this film. It wasn't the BEST movie I've ever seen, but overall I liked it.
I thought the acting was decent, it kept my interest, and it actually wasn't as much of a tear-jerker as I thought it was going to be. I thought the movie would send me through the ringer (based on the trailers), but actually it had some light-hearted moments. Even the audience laughed and chuckled at a few parts.
Will Smith was VERY believable in his role of a man dealing with grief over the death of his daughter, and having lost many loved ones to death in the past myself, I definitely felt his pain. I felt however like this movie could have been deeper and hit more hard (for example, I would have liked to have seen more flashbacks), but it didn't go there. But perhaps that wasn't really the point of the film.
I honestly don't think this movie was meant to be taken so seriously. I think it was just a holiday-themed movie surrounding the topic of death....nothing less, nothing more. I don't get the impression it was supposed to be this great masterpiece, so I don't know why people are dogging this movie so much.
The movie really wasn't that bad folks. I actually quite enjoyed it. It made me think afterwards, and the ending really touched me.
