They're actors hired by coworkers - revealed at the beginning of the fil

Its not a spoiler if its the actual plot revealed in the first 15 minutes.

They don't want him to lead their company since he's depressed and dumb so they hire actors and a private investigator to film Smith talking to them so they can digitally remove the actors from the cell phone footage (right...) and make it look like he's crazy.

Trailers were extremely misleading 

Well, I called this one. They shouldn't have put on websites that Helen Mirren plays Brigitte and Keira Knightley plays Amy, or whoever. That's a dead giveaway. I think they wanted to sell this movie as something magical for the holiday season, when it's really a nasty, cynical movie. I will not be paying to see it. I may get it out from the public library sometime, just to see how awful it is.

No, they're actually Time, Death and Love and you can see that when "they" are looking at the bridge.

In all honesty that sounds even worse. Sure the trailer looked cheesy but at least that plot was largely harmless, compared to how cruel the actual film is.

Hiring actors to talk to someone, videotaping those conversations, and then erasing said actors to "prove" someone is crazy? How is that not cruel?

Not to mention how manipulative threes trailers are, selling a completely different story. Trailers lie, yes, but usually not to this extent.

santosdelano is right. Maybe people need to watch it more than once if they're not realizing this. On top of all that Death, played by Mirren, apart from being with Smith was only with the character who was going to die. She didn't appear alone with his other co-workers. Time was always with the character who needed more time. That character was never alone with Death or Love. And Love was with the person who was trying to get that from their child.

It's actually a well-written movie, that the trailer ruined, with maybe too brief of an ending.

I took the subway to Wayne Station and Batwalked up the road.

You didn't save me anything since I wasn't going anyway after the rubbish reviews. And if the reviews had been saying it was Oscar material and you posted this it wouldn't have stopped me going.

It was revealed that they were "ghosts". The sudden appearence of Love to Whit revealed it even before the end.
