judges
*beep* talking bitches, I'd like to see what they could do in the time limit the competitors have, instead of sitting there criticizing, I'd like to punch J Neilson in the face!

shareI disagree. The judges are renowned and they clearly know the ropes of their trade. What you're saying basically boils down to if that ESPN commentor doesn't take part in the race he can't comment on the race either. Oh, he can.
Besides, they are very generous. If someone fails on the show it's a 50:50 chance they were just being cocky or didn't pay attention. You know, like that artisan with the flat cap slash lecturer who was so artsy he simply couldn't listen to the instructions and made too short a blade.
The only issue I really have with FiF is they compare apples to oranges. If you want to test someone's knife like you do an axe, tell him to do a chopper first. If you send the candidates home to finish their task, make sure they have even chances; it's nothing short of a miracle how well the amateur blacksmithes have been faring so far against the "100k work shop"-kind of guys.
