Handles?
Handles seem to give the contestants as much trouble as the blades. I know they some times are thrown a curve but I would think the contestants would have a plan and be a bit more prepared (practice) to make a handle.
Handles are some of the most important things to get right. I would have never tried to do a hidden tang knife if I knew the condition of the drill press, the bent drill bits, the lack of a handle gouge (which is a common tool). You have to forge your blade then the handle material and tools available are shown. Most skip the hidden tang now after seeing the first season.
