Wow wow wow a Transgender?

With a prostate gland?

reply

Well, yeah, why wouldn't she have a prostate gland? This twist would have been more surprising if I just hadn't seen the same transgender actress on Code Black playing a patient with prostate cancer whose girlfriend didn't know she was trans.

I would have never thought maggie sister denise was a man.

reply

Seriously? I knew as soon as that actor came onscreen that the family secret Halstead was gonna discover was that Maggie's sister was born a dude. It was pretty obvious. Then when Halstead was asking about prior surgeries & the "sister" denied ever having any surgeries but had actually undergone a sex change. How could you not see that plot twist a mile away?

reply

(She's not a man.)

reply

yeah that was a bit funny, same actress, almost same illness. I was like "didn't I just watch this person in another show?"

reply

Is the actress transgender?

reply

I thought so to. I didn't recognize her at first until they mentioned her diagnosis. Since Code Black tackled the cancer issues, Chi Med could've tackled the heart disease issues.

this. weird to see the same actress playing basically the same character back to back.

Code Black beat them to the story on that one. It's a much better show and a lot more about the patients than the whining doctors. I think I'll be removing this one from my DVR schedule and just stick to the other Chicago shows.

reply

I don't like Code Black. Too darkly filmed, and too Hyper-active....my words. I can't follow the story line or the characters (too many, too undistinguishable).

So Hollywood is now casting trans people to play trans people....as if we care?

reply

>>as if we care?

Some of us do.

I love Code Black and was pleased when they brought in Rob Lowe this season. His character is perfect for this group and I hope they keep him on for the full season. The other med show I really like is The Night Shift. Chi Med on the other hand is another story. I'm trying to like it just as much as the other two Chicago shows but the characters just feel wrong. I'm hoping one day I'll have an epiphany and go "Oh, now I get them".

reply

Its funny because I tried with the Night Shift and wanted to like it so bad but hated it and I'm currently trying to get into Code Black and its just not clicking.

On the other hand I love Chicago Med.

I agree with you about Night Shift. I really tried to like that show but for me it's just terrible.

On the other hand i love Code Black. Of the three medical shows it's my favorite.

Chicago Med is second, but i really wish they'd get rid of Halstead.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

reply

I wish they would get rid of Dr. Manning. I can't stand her, I think she's a horrible actress on this show and the constant googly eyes between her and Jeff Clarke is so ridiculous.

reply

The same thing happened on Code Black with the same actress!

reply

Whoops, spoiler much? Serves me right watching my DVR copy while reading on the message board 😷

Two medical shows, two different networks, same week. Practically identical story lines with nearly identical actresses. What? It was the SAME? Actress?

reply

It was actually surprisingly to see a transgender on the show of any LGBT element. I actually didn't know she was but I had to double take.

I watched The Night Shift the first 2 seasons. After they got rid of two main characters I couldn't really get into it and some of the stories got stale. Code Black was good but seemed a little fast, all over the place and they also got rid of some characters. I do like that they have a lesbian doctor and had a storyline centered on gay characters. I have watched HawthoRNe before so it's just nice to see at least one member of the team gay, although I'm sure not everywhere has someone that's gay working with them.
I have binged watched season 1 and all caught up on the second season. I like that Oliver Platt is still on and liking Reese. I think seeing the administrator on the floor most times is getting a little old.
