SEVERELY CENSORED on Sundance channel

Profanity and nudity deleted/dubbed.

I've noticed. Sundance has been editing old movies and such lately. It'll likely be unedited in the home release.

How do you know that? Was this on another station before coming to Sundance?

I have noticed some odd places where scenes don't seem to go together. In this recent episode there were places where the screen would go black for a second and then the scene that came next didn't really flow with the one before it.

I remember when Sundance never did that. They showed movies completely uncensored. Then they got shows and added commercials. They were never the same after that.

I watched The Breakfast Club on Sundance the other day and they edited the hell out of it. It seems that when they started showing commercials they started to bend to advertisers and edit things. The crazy thing is that there are plenty of basic cable channels that have advertisers but allow most "bad" words...in fact, FX allowed the f word to air without censor twice during the OJ Simpson drama.

Last month, I watched Stand by Me on Sundance and it was just butchered. Even words I don't consider swears (tits, balls) were edited out or changed. I thought somebody at FX was going to get fired over repeatedly dropping the F-bombs uncensored, but their excuse was that it was factual and historical, and relevant to the plot. Riiiiight.

Only the networks that broadcast on public airwaves are controlled by the FCC. Outside of that a channel is only limited by themselves and their advertisers. Nickelodeon could air porn if they wanted to so obviously everyone at FX and any advertisers during that program were fine with the content.

And yeah, I've seen the same thing that you talked about...cable shows censoring things that are considered fine for even broadcast tv. USA routinely censors language on repeats of SVU that NBC didn't when the show originally aired. I always wonder why they make those decisions.

If you haven't got the memo IFC and the SUNDANCE channel have been sold. The are no longer interested in Movies that that make a mark they are there for the commercials.
And my god are there a lot of them. There was an article in Hollywood something or other that IFC no longer means independent Movie Channel, it mean nothing. Same with Sundance. They have been bought by a company the will insert and add in the middle of the God Father at the scene where sonny is getting wacked they run a tampon commercial then an add for a funeral home, then seventeen more adds to the point where you forgot what was on in the first place. Why in the hell do these channels exits? We have plenty of commercial channels already. These guys snuck in under a false flag.

reply

What you say made me recall what I once heard and that was the variety of tv shows are "created" to bring us to the commercials.

reply

You can now watch the show unedited and uncensored on Netflix.

reply

Good to know; I'll make sure not to watch those two channels ever again.

reply

Great, I like it this way.

I am sorry for my grammar\spelling

Funny, I'm looking at the Sundance website and I'm liking what they are showing yet I come to this thread and I'm guessing they are no better than AMC who doesn't seem to allow profanity or nudity either.
