Then why was Malachi playing music from the 80s.20 years ago was 1996.

Songs from the 80s were still popular in the 90s, the 2000s, heck, even now! They don't just play songs from the current year at the prom or dance !!

That would make 3 Christmas' I've saved, vs. 8 that I've ruined; two were kind of a draw..

Excellent point!! Even today 2016 they are likely still playing those songs from the 80s at prom. Why? Because it is still good music.
