I'm not bothered by it but given the apparent fan base he has, I'm surprised he won't be back.

Universal have had to pay off Lucas Black three film contract fully for him to say this. All I can say I'm waiting for the Blu Ray release now disappointing enough without Paul Walker.

Unfortunate to hear that, though from what he said there still seems to be a chance for him to return in the ninth and tenth movie, hopefully they figure out a way for him to return in those (I suppose a 3 picture deal can still technically count if he appears in both of these since he appeared in the 7th one).
Sucks that it was scheduling issues with NCIS, hopefully he manages to work things out.
The good news is that Lucas wants to return at some point. I think he'll show back up in Fast 9. Chris Morgan definitely has a slot for him somewhere since he wrote Tokyo Drift.
At the bottom it says 6 months ago. Maybe it's just an old interview and he wants to surprise people. Information from mid December is indeed saying that he'll be back in Fast 8. Maybe he'll just be in a post credit scene..something.
Sean Boswell will be indeed back in The Fate of the Furious,but in the post credits scene.
I doubt,if he will be in the final scene with the team.
I'm down for a post credit scene at least. It will be similar to Eva Mendes's mid credit scene cameo in Fast Five. Except she never came back. It's all good..Sean Boswell is actually important because he was a main character whether people like him or not.
Seriously though if Lucas Black does not show up at all. That will 2 more years of people thinking he ain't coming back, and would suck.
Hopefully that's true, if that's the case then they might do what they did in the new xXx movie by putting in that Ice Cube cameo near the end of the movie, and nobody really knew he was in the movie at all until a tv spot came up I think. Only difference is this for FotF it would be a post credits scene rather than the last 15 minutes or so.
