Abolitionists were few

Okay, well I find it interesting. Is this based on real life characters? When I reading the stories, I found that the abolitionists were not many, but the Federalists were mainly interested in regaining control over the Confederate states. When I found out that this was another "Civil War" shows, I can't help but be reminded of all the pseudo history lately such as "Lincoln", "12 years a slave", etc. I have only watched a few episodes.

This is based partly on a book called "Nurses of Mercy Street", I think.

Of course, the only real abolitionist in the show is Mary and practically everyone mocks her for it. The rest of the Unionists don't seem to give a damn.

reply

Well that would make sense since the Federalists were not really abolitionists anyway.

12 Years a Slave was based on a true story---so it was hardly "pseudo-anything."
