I looked up some details.
The historical Mary Phinney von Olnhausen, the character played by Lucy Gennaro, was born in 1818, making her 44 years old during episode 1.1, old enough to be willful Emma Green's mother. Maybe the real Mary Phinney was not a WILF?
I looked for, and couldn't find, any archival images of Phinney. I did find one of Green, which I will link to below.
The hospital became the largest in Virginia, able to house 500 (or 700) patients. With 500 patients they must have had dozens of doctors, and hundreds or nurses, orderlies, janitors, etc -- not the handful we see in episode 1.1.
Here are some images of the exterior of the Hospital:

Here are a pair of images of Emma Green and her beau. Given the difficulty of taking a good picture back then, she probably was hot. Her beau, Frank Stringfellow, full name Benjamin Franklin Stringfellow, had great difficulty enlisting in the Confederate Army because he only weighed 94 pounds. (He was 5'8") He'd have to gain three pounds to be a 97 pound weakling.
