I am only 3/4 of the way through the first episode and the filmography and direction has blown me away. At times it feels like a manga-style hybrid of images and characters. Super fast paced, interesting and stimulating.

He has crammed in a variety of different techniques to great effect. So damn good, such a pleasure to watch. If the rest of the series lives up to this direction will come down to the writing, but the direction/production/filmography is spot on. Thank you Netflix!

It's a good show. So is Strictly Ballroom, although I wouldn't compare the two, other than SB is where BL got his start.

I will say that it would be wrong to say that this is Baz's show. He couldn't do The Get Down by himself. That's also true about SB.

The Great Down is great.
