How are we supposed to root for these characters?

Emma, Ravi, and Zuri are just as unlikable as they were in Jessie. Hazel is a far less entertaining version of Larxene from Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. Gladys is just awful, Tiffany and Jorge are both annoying and boring at the same time, and Xander is at unbelievable Gary-Stu level I can't even believe it. I GUESS I can tolerate Lou.
Not to mention, they're all stereotypes of stereotypes. Peyton, Kevin, Miranda, Tessa, and Mary Scheer deserve better than this.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. I mean sure he's a nice guy and reasonably level headed. But he doesn't seem to excel at anything. Honestly he spends a lot of the series either running from a lunatic, or getting hit by bad luck.
