So... selected group of wokes have positive reactions to a woke movie, the same that happened in Lion King, Lats Jedi or Rise of the Skywoker.

Duh.

Too many tweets from gals. Noticed "empower" twice. The only woke comment was:

Mulan is Disney’s queerest movie ever. It has so many things gay people love: dramatic hair reveals, a witch that turns into a bird, defying gender roles, bringing dishonor to your family, horses, bathing in a lake

reply

Wait, bathing in a lake is queer/gay? How dare you (Greta voice). I find that hot, especially if the person is alone and I'm the only ped... err watcher.

All the tweets were from Wokes, or at least from Professional Lickers that will lick whatever piece of shit they're told to lick. Disney is not gonna allow Non-Wokes in a premiere.

That doesn't mean all the tweets are gonna say 'gender role' or similar Diverse Bullshit. The same Christians are not saying constantly 'Lord Jesus'. Wokes aren't aliens, they're normal people who follow this new Faith. There has been some backlash lately, and Wokes are not stupid: they're adapting and evangelizing in their Faith in a more subtle way.

I definitely need to see this movie now. The animated movie was woke enough with the plot. I don't know how much more woke it can get. That's part of why I wanted to see the movie. The story is woke already and they can't really go further, so when remaking this movie in such a woke society/culture nowadays, I kind of just shrugged it off in a "whatever" type way. It was ahead of its time and beat Hollywood and how society currently is. Plus it was a done in a not so in your face type of way. And I'll know what's too woke or too political because I hate that type of garbage in movies I watch. Mulan just seemed it was that right amount that wouldn't be so in your face. I also don't care what skin color or gender the main character/protagonist is. As long as the trailers get me interested, I'll watch it. So I don't get the big deal about a Chinese female main character. And the whole story of Mulan is a female disguising herself as a man to join the war and then she comes in and saves the day and stuff. So it was woke to begin with. But now I'm interested to see just how much they push this woke garbage just because it was woke enough. Well, I want to see the movie for entertainment purposes overall, but now I want to see if the movie makes me shake my head in disgust and be like "oh god, what the f**k?" throughout. I really don't know how they can make it even more woke than it already is. The animated movie was pretty woke to begin with. So now I kind of want to see the new movie just to see what the damage is and what they do to further things. My guess is it's just as woke as the animated movie, but everyone is blowing up things more than what they really are or are just watching the movie for woke reasons and trying to make a big deal out of it. I've noticed now that anytime a movie has a female protagonist/main character, it's automatically labeled woke or feminist garbage. Or if ANY female character is considered "strong" it's woke or a feminist movie.

Yup , i noticed that too. I'm not sure what the label is for those that object to it though. Anti-woke?

reply

That's because strong lead characters have been always extremely rare. Strong characters don't struggle, and that makes them boring. Unless you have some very charismatic actor playing them, like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood, it's a bad idea. Most iconic characters were not 'strong'. 007, for example, was cold and smart, not 'strong'. Luke in Star Wars was naive and courageous, not 'strong'. And so on and so for.

Jean Claude Van damme
Chuck Norris

The trailer looks good. The story is based on a true story. I’m part Chinese, and I want to see this film. I don’t understand this “woke” culture thing and I don’t care. I suppose if Crouching Tiger were released now, folks would complain about female leads?

reply

Crouching Tiger was a typical wuxia movie.

Disney's Mulan is gonna be a typical woke movie.

Please, let's not mix genres that are completely unrelated.

reply

I hope this “woke” is not becoming a genre now!
But I still want to see Mulan. No interest in Terminator or Charlie’s Angel. I do not like the new Star Wars, too.

Watch Kingdom. Best series I found last year (anime ones aside), and best medieval fantasy I've seen in a while. Probably, much much better than Mulan:

You’re the second person to recommend Kingdom to me. I like Zombie films like Train to Busan. I will check out Kingdom!

reply

Give it a chance. Be aware that the first episode is a bit boring, even though it's necessary because it introduces all the characters and the political situation. The party starts in ep.2.

This movie is not as good as the series, but it's good too. It's another zombie story in medieval Korea, unrelated to the series, though.

Reactions aside, I wanna see this movie. But I'm glad some seem to like it.
