I saw the first two episodes

Potential to be quite good! The principal actors are all great. I was a little put off by the cliche teaming of Houdini and Doyle with a lady cop, an incredibly rare person in 1910 London, but she is a pretty good character. The scripts are pretty well written. It's still a bit of a raw product, but I can see the show becoming great over time as the characters become more filled out.

I was quite impressed with how accurately they recreated the water cell illusion. They carefully studied photos of Houdini performing that trick and recreated all the props perfectly.

So are the cases they're investigating like Scooby-Doo where there is an explanation for everything, or is actual supernatural stuff happening? That's the one thing I haven't been able to figure out yet from the promos and reading up on it.

"No! He is imprinted on you like a gay duckling. If you don't wean him off you slowly, he'll die."

Yeah, at least in these first two there are definitely non-supernatural explanations, and they would have gotten away with it if it weren't for these meddling celebrities.
