Coma

Does anyone know the history of IVs? Like could people in the late 1800s survive for 6 months in a coma? I'm trying to find when IVs were introduced and I'm struggling...

I wondered the same! No feeding tubes or anything!

Before feeding tubes, they did sometimes attempt to feed by soup enemas.

I dunno how accurate it was, but on "Penny Dreadful" -- which takes place in the late 19th century, they showed a contraption like a big funnel pushed down the throat into the stomach, for soup to be poured in.

Sometimes fires don't go out when you're done playin' with them.
