SJW explains why this is getting poor reviews
Maybe the studios will figure out movie audiences aren't SJWs!
There was no Palestine, it was probably Syria.

This review contains spoilers. Don't be fooled. This is an EXCELLENT movie, with insanely high production value, a GOOD script with a minimum of suspend believe moments. What's good about it, is that it clearly references (not openly) the trump era, but at the same time it's STILL true to the original story. The traditional Robin Hood is about a hero who steals from the rich to give to the poor. In this version, this is still the case but the background story is made even more believable. I've always had a hard time believing that the Crusades were fought for purely religious reasons, and in this film, or so it appears, they were NOT.
Why do so many English knight march off to go die thousands of miles away from home? Leaving their castles and possessions?
Because they were PROVOKED TO DO SO. It appears that the Sheriff of Nottingham and some cardinal bribed an Arabian general to keep the war in Palestine going, so that King Richard might die and the Sheriff can become King of England in his stead.
Now THAT makes a whole more sense than merely dying for your religion. Because contrary to popular believe, medieval people had a fairly realistic approach to religion. Why else did Henry VIII break with the Church? He didn't think god would strike him down. Turns out, he wasn't struck down... at all. They weren't stupid nor gullible. They knew that the Bible should not be taken literally.
What's underneath all the Robin Hood hate, is probably because Robin Hood now comes out as an unapologetic Social Justice Warrior: for the poor, against the rich. He puts his money where his mouth is, and becomes the change, he leaves his comfortable home, and goes to life in the forest.
This is what ReichWingers can't stan: they are such hypocrites, they can not abide by an honest man.
Go see Robin Hood. Don't mind the somewhat obvious references to the nightmare that the 21st century political situation is. Because the situation is DIRE. And the filmmakers obviously didn't want to be subtle about it. I agree. Turning the other cheek is immorally exaggerated. 9/10
