Horror?
Is it just me or this movie really wasn't scary? I don't get it how is this a horror movie.
It's more like mystery thriller.
Does anyone agree?

I agree. Many 'horror' movies these days are actually thrillers. Its become a common mislabeling, unfortunately.
shareAgreed. I don't know what the actual definition of "horror" is (I suppose I could spend two minutes googling, but that's just how lazy I am) but I would expect to see supernatural, or possible science fiction (e.g. zombie viruses etc) themes, or a lot of gory killings by a psychopath with super strength or super intelligence.
This was just an old fashioned hostage thriller thing.
I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe
I disagree. A horror movie can be classified by being a movie where a terrifying or scary thing occurs. It doesn't have to BE scary, the situation just has to be scary and involve some type of fear-inducing threat to the main characters. Horror movies can be called horror movies solely by the fact that they're based on fear. This is a frightening situation, isn't it? Having your kids be held hostage and almost murdered by a psychopath? Then yes, it's a horror movie.
shareBy that definition almost every movie is a horror film. Certainly every war movie. Pretty much every western. Things that would be scary if they happened in real life don't constitute a horror film.
A horror film is designed to actually BE scary for the viewer.
A thriller is one in which the main characters are in nearly-constant danger.
This was a 'thriller', albeit one with little sense of anxiety/suspense.
In a sense, yes, that would classify most other movie genres as horror, but that doesn't mean my definition is wrong. And by your definition that would mean all THRILLERS are horror, as horror movies usually have the main characters in constant danger, while also inducing anxiety and suspense upon the viewer. Horror movies ARE technically a subgenre of a thriller. That's why so many companies classify them in the same category. This is definitely a horror movie though. If if involves main characters being stalked and or terrorized by another character with violent and or terrifying results, then yes it can be classified as both horror and thriller. This movie just seems more horror to me though. Because it actually freaked me out. Thrillers aren't usually meant to scare you, just to give you that feeling of suspense.
