The Phones

Is this movie supposed to take place in the early 2000's for some reason? the old cellphones and that the family had a landline, and the vhs player and tape. just seemed kinda weird and took me out of the movie

You aren't allowed to have VHS players & tapes in 2016?
As for the phones, I know enough people who refuse to upgrade to a smartphone, and I have a landline to (I'm 40).
Maybe younger generations don't use them anymore, but for the older generations it's quite normal.

Also, the husband already said in the car (after picking her up) that he barely uses a computer, so I doubt that he would buy the newest type smartphone.

You're an idiot, the kids had up to date handheld devices, it was emelie and her man who had the crap 1990s circa cell phones

They have disposable burner phones because they are on the run

You're a retard.

The VHS threw me a bit but I know a few people that just never bothered to remove them and added everything around tt.

Lots of people have landlines, especially if you have children.

Facebook wasn't around in the early 2000's, so no

There are many people who still have a landline, and in their case is more than justified since the children are not allowed to have cell phones until they're older (they say so in the movie), so if they need to contact someone they need the landline.
