More important than the Latina thing is that this family seems fairly poor (one bathroom, not enough bedrooms, apparently just one car). I can't recall a show where its main characters experience any financial limitations. Every now and then a show will try, but it'll be gone after a season or so. If that doesn't happen here, i think it's a big deal.
shareNot to mention the not having a full table thing. What I will say though is that they're living room looked pretty nice, a giant fireplace and cool couches but then again their bedrooms didn't look oh so amazing features that. All and all I'll say I was glad to see they weren't rich as well
shareIf you're able to afford all those extra curricular activities for 7 kids, you're not poor. And some of these kids seem to have their own room, judging from just the pilot episode. Harley and Ethan seem to have their own room, the twins share, the 2 older girls and the youngest I'm one room, that's at least 4 bedrooms (not including the parents). Why they only have 1 bathroom for the whole house (probably not including the master) isn't a being "poor" problem it's a floor planning one.

The 3 older girls share a room and Daphne sleeps in a clubhouse in the hall. The 3 boys share a room. That means they only have 3 bedrooms. So 1 bathroom makes sense. It's also possible that there's a master bathroom since we haven't seen the parents' room.

I would say the Diaz's are middle class families. I know families where the parents have good paying jobs but you wouldn't know it because their house is messy because of all the kids they have.
Most family based sitcoms are based on middle class families in fact the only one I can think of that was based on a poor family and had any success was Good Times.

shareNo they don't. They wear the same outfits all the time and that is something you don't often see in TV shows. In most shows people don't repeat even a single item or an accessory (which is very unrealistic). And their clothes don't seem that expensive, especially Max's. Caroline tries to look put-together and she seems to have a budget fashionista thing going on.
