Hispanic family?
Why do white people think they know about Hispanics? They can't even find Latino kids except for the main girl. Also, not all of us have a bunch of kids! Ridiculous!

shareActually each cast member is either latino or half latino sooo
shareRight lol
shareWhat I would have liked is that they have more latino names. They have names like Suzy, Tom, Rachel, Georgie, Harley, Ethan, Lewie, Daphne, and Beast. I would have liked to hear names like Alejandra, Juanita, Paulina, Diego, Alejandro, Jose, names like that. And also what is that kid's real name because Beast is not a name.

My dad was born in Ireland and my mom is a first generation American (her parents were born in Ireland) but they didn't name any of us traditional Irish names.
And also what is that kid's real name because Beast is not a name.Well that's judgmental. There are literally kids named Apple, Audio Science, Pilot Inspector, etc. but Beast can't be a real name? share

Then don't name YOUR kids any of those names, but don't be a dick about names you don't like.
shareUm, names like that aren't fit for a person period. It shouldn't even bother you that some one is being a dick about them. Why are you getting so defensive? You seriously think they're fine names for a person to have? NOT! Think of the child here that has to grow up with something so obnoxious. They deserve proper names, not names fit only for objects and things. Get it together.
shareGiven the Duggars' devout faith it makes sense. Spurgeon was (most likely) named for Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892), a prominent 19th century Baptist preacher who is still highly thought of in Protestant circles.
From Wikipedia (via the Bing search engine): "Charles Haddon Spurgeon was a British Particular Baptist preacher. Spurgeon remains highly influential among Christians of various denominations, among whom he is known as the 'Prince of Preachers.' He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day."
Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.
I'd much rather be called Spurgeon if I were a boy (reminds me of sturgeon...) than Beast or any of those intentionally bizarre non-names/words. x-p
shareActually it's Pilot Inspektor. Why the k, I don't know. You also missed Moxie Crimefighter.
sharei had made a board about this before the show came out, got hate and said screw it and took it down. but i agree with you
Alejandra, Juanita, Paulina, Diego, Alejandro, Jose, names like that.
Imagine that there would be people who would get offended with that as well. They would say that the show was being stereotypical. In today's society, people love to be offended and will find any reason to be offended.
shareGreetings from a non-Hispanic white guy, who is curious:
I know, as someone elsewhere in this thread said, that Hispanic is an ethnicity and not a race. Then what is the acceptable family surnamed Diaz supposed to look like? Only brown-skinned Mexican farm workers? Should they all look like George Lopez? Desi Arnaz? Cheech Marin? Selena Gomez? (who looks pretty generic-white-girl [whatever that is] to me) My point is, A lot of Spanish surnamed people come from Europe and South America too and many of them are pretty white. I read similar complaints in another thread here. Seems like people are overly sensitive. But maybe I'm wrong. Sorry to rattle on, but I do get confused. Because if it's not complaints about Hispanic stereotypes it's about blacks (Zuri on Jessie as the "sassy black woman"), Indians (Ravi on Jessie with his affected accent, which if truly authentic he would have been difficult to understand) or Asians (super-genius with no social life, see Bunk'd and Liv & Maddie).
I didn't know a family of seven children was a Hispanic stereotype. Add it to the Mormon and Catholic stereotypes then. (I was raised Catholic, with five more siblings, and our ancestors were German.)
Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.
exactly. everyone seems to think that if you're Hispanic, you're "brown". nobody in my family looks like that.
also, we're a white Hispanic family and none of us has a traditional Spanish name. THAT'S real life.
Exactly. As Bill Cosby said when people said the Huxtables weren't a "real Black family". He said "Those people need to get out more".
WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!
