Diversity Seriously Lacking at Disney

Isn't the point of the show to center it around a Hispanic family?
Couldn't they get some actual Latinos or Mexicans to be the family
members instead of a bunch of white people with dark hair? How
pathetic?

reply

I agree! Very disappointed. The creator of the show is white. What does she know about Hispanics?

reply

The executive producer is actually Linda Figueiredo. Alison Brown only wrote the initial pilot script which never aired.IMDB has it wrong.

Regardless of the creator's race, that's a great point. Harley, the parents and Georgie are the only ones that don't look or "act white". I know someone is gonna get mad by my generalized view of how the average person of a certain race should talk and behave.

That's not exactly what I mean. I'm talking more about accents the twins and the oldest girl barely sound or look Hispanic. And I don't know where this is set so maybe they sound appropriate for their region. Also they look like they live in a nice neighborhood. I would not be surprised if a few cast members are Caucasian.

Casting is tough and they assembled the best people they could get. I don't mind seeing good actors that might not fit the race except by appearance than a bad actor who is 100% the desired race. Movies do it all the time.

Not a big deal, but it should be addressed.

Embrace Debate.

I'm sure many of the cast members are Caucasian, but that doesn't mean they aren't Hispanic. Because FYI, Hispanic is NOT a race. It is an ethnic group. There are many races within the Latino community, including White, Black, Native Indian, and even Asian. Some segments, like the Cuban community, show very few mixed-race individuals. Other groups, like Puerto Ricans, are very mixed. Argentineans are mostly White and some Latin American countries, including Mexico, have a strong Native Indian background.

Actually genetics have shown that the average Cuban is genetically Mixed Race and not genetically 100 percent pure unmixed European. Don't you just love science.

So you are 100 percent wrong that there are very few mixed race inviduals in Cuba.

Seriously?

We are a Hispanic family. We're white and few of us even have dark hair. My kids have blonde hair and blue eyes. WE are what many Hispanics actually look like!

Yeah, the OP really needs to get out more.
