shareMost of them are just "dormant" and it's often the very prodding of the team (which they start doing when a couple of clues line up) that set things in motion for the episode.
I think that for a show that's episodic in nature they're doing a decent job.
The plot line has a lot of improbable events and weak situations endangering key characters. I can live with that, because after all, the show is supposed to be escapist entertainment. The plot situations that really irritate me are the times Patterson leaves the lab and goes into the field, either as part of the team or on her own. For someone who is supposed to be so smart, the show's writers seem to put her character in a lot of situations that result in her appearing to be just another dumb blonde character who completely forgot everything she would have been taught in basic agent training. The writers have her doing things (or forgetting to do protective things) that would already be almost second nature to even a rookie cop.
