That hair is killing me

I know it's been said before but they really need to do something about Jane's hair. That's all I could see whenever she was on screen. Just a simple wash and dry would help.

reply

i actually like her hair/haircut.

reply

Yep! Me too...

I think it suits her personality and her situation-- she's just not someone who worries over the 'chore' of making herself up to be glamorous.

Probably because she doesn't remember goin' thru high school when all of us learned to give a crap abut that.

Sometimes fires don't go out when you're done playin' with them.

reply

Hair like that actually requires a lot of styling!

That's what I personally find very unrealistic about it - it would take at least an hour every day to get it to look that way, and I don't think the style would last the whole day, either, yet she is always perfectly coiffed.

reply

I'd give my left arm to have Jane's beautiful shaggy hair.

It's one of the current fashions, and has been for more than a decade. But it takes good hair.

OP, I was thinking I should make a list of women with shagged hair that you haven't been bitching about, starting with a character like Marie in Bourne Identity, who had charmingly shaggy hair thanks to Bourne cutting it by clumps and handfuls in a hotel bathroom. So did you bitch about her hair?

Or maybe you didn't see that movie. You wanna go watch it right now so you can come here and bitch about the leading woman's hair there, too?

Yeah I like her hair as well. I always liked that bed hair/messy look and she wears it well, Meg Ryan use to get those messy choppy hair cuts and she always looked amazing too.

reply

Why? So she could resemble your second grade teacher?
I love Jane's style, along with a haircut that fits perfectly.

reply

While yes it would look more attractive, I think the way it currently gets styled for the show is more realistic to the character - someone that was raised in an environment that probably didn't value/put stock in being 'done up' (hair, make-up, etc) and is in a constant stressful situation where she is running around and getting sweaty. Plus, if you look at Sandstorm, seem to exist in run-down buildings, military styled clothes/hair - not exactly an environment for blow-outs/styling.

And, if her hair looked perfectly manicured there would then be a thread about her hair looking unrealistic for being in her environment.

reply

I like the hair and I agree that it fits the environment. What distracts me more is the perfectly shaped eyebrows that seem to be plucked regularly. Removal of the body hair does not seem to be an issue for her either. (yeah yeah laser and wax and genetics, i know, could be many explanations, it still distracts me)

Yes, it's horrible.

reply

Yes, it's horrible.

Yep!

But, then so is EVERYTHING ELSE about her life AND the situations she finds herself in.

We've seen it "done up" when she needed it that way for an assignment...the same way we've seen (or, in her case, not seen) her tattoos at times.

But, her tattoos, her outfits, AND her hair are all a part of the entire package.

Horrible hair...yes. Horrible for the role...No.

I am all on board your train, OP. She looks like she hasn't bathed since the pilot episode. I'm not expecting a salon hair-do, but she looks like she has been living in a tent in the woods for 2 years.

While on the subject, somebody buy Weller a razor blade.

I'm with Beren44:

Her rough looking hair is a distraction to me. As a viewer, I need something less obviously styled to look messy. It's just an overdone look.

And men? I am heartily sick and tired of the unshaven look. Again, it's a distraction.

reply

I hate her hair. They could have a better style for her and still not take away from her character.

reply

I AGREE IS TERRIBLE. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

reply

i don't like her hair as it currently is in season 2. it's way too short. i liked it most when it was starting to grow out a tiny bit. it looked sort of like a bob cut type of style as seen on this show's main IMDB page...

her hair looks great in that video still on the main page.
