Do you think Anastasia's mask looks too innocent, on the poster?

I mean it looks like a mask that Cinderella would wear to the ball, when she is suppose to be engaging in naughty, aberrational behavior. The mask just doesn't fit the tone. What do you think?

Apparently after the first book any heavy focus on kinky stuff is over with, and the series becomes more or less a straight soap opera. I guess after the first movie denigrated BDSM, this one is out to ruin costume parties.

Agreed totally.
To me it looks like Universal has successfully ruined the movie.
I only wanted to see Jamie got a seven figure salary, that didn't happen, so the movie being ruined is fine with me.
I also agreed with Mya's post in the other thread http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4465564/board/nest/261343192?d=261344569#261344569, the poster is like that a horror movie.
I am not yet able to understand why Universal did this. (I know many people like the trailer).
Look at the Jose's scene in the trailer, Jamie looked like a college student or an employee or a courier delivering a package when he saw Dakota!
And Dakoka with that purple lipstick, she is like in her other movies Black Mass, etc. monotonous voice and no personality.
(I like the first movie)

They are attending a masked charity ball at Christian's parents home..it is very high class society auction..for Grey's charity for abused children..

I saw, and read posts here about, the ball scene, I knew many people like Dakota's gray dress (I like it too) but no so for the mask (I didn't like the mask either, I prefer the mask fans photoshopped months ago). What I meant was, I wanted the movies to be as good as the first one (to me it was was very good, I like it), but the onset pictures and the trailer of Darker weren't that good in the sense that the wardrobes were so lousy that I wondered why Universal chose to go that way. (I don't like the trailer but I read here it was clear that many people like it). Don't they want the movie to look beautiful and the actors to look fancy? Look at Kim Basinger in the trailer and think about how the character was described in the book...

Darker...page 130...."He hands me a large velvet pouch....Open it, he says..I reach into the bag and pull out an intricate silver masquerade mask, with cobalt blue feathers crowning the top".. Christian says..."It's a masked ball"

So, they did leave off the feathers..

I thought the mask was gorgeous. No it was nothing like the one that was described in the book, but still beautiful.
