Underestimating

I'm sorry but I really think when it comes to the pre release tracking they are underestimating this movie. I don't think this one will match the 500 million of the first one nor should it have to on a 20 million dollar budget but it won't flop and it will certainly make over 35-40 million opening weekend.

Agreed, charlesfernandez. Fifty Shades Darker should do well at the box office which is why Universal produced the movie in the first place - not for awards or acclaim it will never receive, but for money. While I doubt FSD will rake in half a billion like FSOG, it will make a bucket of bucks.

I tried to explain this to another user. The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline both stated that the advanced ticket sales were not as high as the first film. There has been a decline interest, apparently the fact the Valentine's Day/President's Day is not part of the weekend that brings big bucks. Also, competition from a family-oriented film (The Lego Batman Movie) draws a bigger/diverse crowd. But hey, sometimes there are surprises. Look at Deadpool last year, it surpassed its original possible projections. So who knows right?
