I just read the critic from The Apologist

First of all, yes...I can read, speak and write in french (hence my user name). Second of all, I'm feeling disappointed! The reviewer said that the film is "disappointing in all viewpoints". I never cared about the story, but I was looking forward to see some BDSM playout. They said something like " A film about a subject that falls flat like a crepe, with no intention of realization. A "regurgitation of the book that brings no bite, an intrigue without suspense, the dialogues are boring to the point of putting you to sleep, overall, a film that is merely interesting because of shots of the Northwest coast of the United States."

I was hoping that if by Europeans standards, they gave good reviews (supposedly Europeans know best about erotic films), that it have a chance to impress. Maybe not? Here's hoping for some better reviews.

Troubled but on her guard, she agrees to dine with him. Christian begs her to give him a second chance. He wants to change for her, even if it means completely rethinking the contract they had made. He is ready to begin a more "normal" relationship to prove to her he is capable of love. But the road to a more conventional relationship will be strewn with pitfalls. Christian is still dragging his old demons. His past is never far away and will soon catch up with him.

So, I guess the question remains: Who helped him change if they cut the good doctor out? I haven't read the books in three years, but do remember a doctor that helped him along the way.

I read them once, like years ago in my friend's dumb book club. You're right! The doctor was basically the one to help Ana understand Christian's *beep* up mind. So if the doctor is cut from the film, how does Christian get better? Ugh, I bet you the film will portray it as Christian getting better on his own, no professional help at all.

I'm not surprised.

They're romancing and glamorizing it.

I had a friend literally text me daily, in early 2014, for a solid month, telling me I had to read these books. I never heard of them. She was so damn persistent and wouldn't tell me anything, only that I had to see it for myself. And boy did I see.

But you're right, that's probably what they'll do. It will be Ana's absence that sets him on a new path, no doctor needed. Or, maybe he'll shoot out a line here and there, saying he sees a therapist just to satisfy the book readers.

On a side note, I have 9th Life of Louis Drax playing now. I've never seen it before. Seriously, how adorable is that Oliver Platt?

100% agree.

Does anyone know why they cut the doctor scenes? I mean Hugh Dancy did film them, right?

That's one of the reasons I had a problem with Silver Linings Playbook, it had the same vibe to, having Tiffany changed Pat. Don't think romance can cure mental illness Don't get me wrong, having zombie by your helps but it doesn't cure,

I also HATED how Christian finally realizes what Elena did was wrong, all because he found out he was going to be a dad.

Uhm, it's based on the book sequel to the terrible original... which itself was an altered version of a pornographic Twilight Saga fanfic... this had EPIC FAIL written all over it, and through it, and as part of its subatomic structure!
