I saw the movie tonight and it wasn't that bad....I know, crazy

My expectations were pretty low going in, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The story was fast paced and lacked tension, but there were some scenes, I thought, that were really well done. For instance, I loved the use of Helium for Dakota's scene when she walked in the rain on her way back to Christian's apartment.

Biggest flaw, however, is not just the source material, but the pacing. For instance, towards the end when Grace slaps Elena. All she hears is that Christian fvcked her best friend, and Grace proceeds to slap the bitch and throws her ass out of the house. In reality, or in a good movie, as an audience you'd want to relish that moment for a few seconds. You'd want Grace to ask the question, 'Wtf did I just hear? When did this $hit go down?' Because, if I remember right, she never knew, until that moment, that Christian and her best friend slept together. Never. So where was the genuine shock of hearing this news? It just went straight into action, but that's just how the whole movie went. No reaction, just action. I only read the books once, three years ago. But if I hadn't, I wouldn't care less about these characters. The pacing and tension was just off.

But, all in all, I think Jamie and Dakota did really well for what they were working with. The theater laughed when Jamie hit his knees towards the end, and another scene with Dakota's forced emotional state, but most of the laughs were due to Fat Albert behind me, giving a running commentary on all the various sex scenes. He was funny--and really into it.

Theater was only half full. As soon as the first credits appeared, the theater lights flashed on instantly, as if saying 'we know you have sex toys, put them away.' But yeah, Jamie did really well. His accent was good. Acting was good. He looked good. Nothing to be ashamed about, good job.
