I find it amusing that he was able to sell that car for as much as he did.

No he didn't...he said Taylor got 12 thousand..but when Ana tears up the check, he calls his assistant, and tells her to deposit 24 thousand in her account..which she later gives to the masquerade charity bid for the trip to Christian's home in Aspen...in fact, the book never says whether Taylor sold it or not.

The book explains that the car was a classic and that a collector or something like that paid that amount.
