Why is everyone hating on women so bad for these movies....

when we have four Transformers movies ripe with toilet humor and sexual innuendo? These movies as bad as they are at least advertise that they're female fantasy erotica.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

reply

Because it's bad when women are allowed any form of sexual freedom, remember?

*said sarcastically*

When it comes to women and sex, I'm reminded of a scene at the end of Lars von Trier's "Nymph()maniac" where Stellan Skarsgård's character asks Charlotte Gainsbourg if she ever wonders if the reason why her story is so horrifying for people to accept is because she's a woman and makes a point to elaborate on how women are held to a different standard than men regarding the concept of sex and that, if she were a man, her story wouldn't elicit the same kind of shock or awe.

There's a difference between a differing opinion and a forced one.

Seriously ?

reply

Men are intimidated.

Which I'm not sure why, I think they should be thankful. Women that read romance/erotica novels have sex more than women that don't.

reply

Do you have to know the people you're having sex with or is it like you read 'The End' and a handsome stranger appears suddenly from your closet with a yellow rose in his mouth and a devilish twinkle in his eye? Because if so, you need to immediately send me the titles of these books you're reading 

~Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable~

reply

Lmao, I love your comment. I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend for over 3 years now.

But yes, reading romance/erotica novels can make a difference in how much we have sex 😜

I've wondered since the first film's board why so many men feel compelled to come on here and rant and rave about the film, and women and whatnot.

There IS a theme, though, isn't there? A pattern?

I don't pretend to surmise why (though I have a few guesses I'll keep to myself); but for some reason even the existence of these films and the boards discussing them require some people to seek it out and try to shame the people participating on it to discuss the books and films.

I've never seen anything else like this particular dynamic on other film's board.

Just this one.

They attempt to shame, they mock, they insult the female gender's intelligence, their sex lives and sexuality (making assumptions they have no right to probably incorrectly make about the other poster's personal lives).

Some men on here are SO aggressive toward the women who write about the film, it's boggling.

All I would say is that it perhaps says more about the man who's posting than the women who are reading their posts being accused of all sorts....

And that's just the self-ID'd men! The self-identified "feminists" pretty much do the same in many cases.

:-)))

And then they complain about how they are "nice/normal" guys when they are the ones complaining, mock, shame, etc.

Yup, I'm automatically a "slut" if I like to read 50 Shades of Grey, when I've only slept with one person in my whole life and we're still together til this day. Makes so much sense (sarcasm).

My basic reasoning is that they're very ignorant and will stay that way. I'll admit, I didn't think I would enjoy the first film or the book but I surprisingly did. My boyfriend was a little confused as to why I liked it, but he has a very open mind. Once I explained to him more about the book/film, he considered watching the movie and he thought it was pretty good. I'm lucky to have someone like him who doesn't automatically rule out the broad interests of other people, especially women.
