The $24,000 Check

Sorry to say this is on me because I missed the reference. What did Christian give Ana the $24,000 for?

reply

Its what he claims her old car was worth that he sold in the first film without her say-so but it was really for her "services" when they broke up!

reply

To the OP, since your question was honestly posed because you needed to know, I'll answer as well, instead of using your sincere post to make up a snarky and wrong answer about "services."

Christian told Ana her car was a "classic" and that Taylor got far more for it than she would have thought it would sell for being such a old Beetle. Ergo, the large sum.

Whether or not Christian kind of inflated that because he wanted to help Ana financially as she was on her way out the door, is a question to ponder.

But that's why the sum was so large, as explained in the book.

Taylor got 12 thousand, Grey doubled it out of anger, if some small amount of that wasn't compensation for what he did to her, you're fooling yourself!

It's hard to make a statement about what was not specifically stated in the original book about Christian's intentions.

The only assumption I can make about the inflated sum was that Christian from the first moment fretted over Ana's well being, whether or not she was eating properly and worried about her from the get go.

So, if he inflated the sum on her way out the door, I was comfortable in thinking without otherwise proof that he was trying to look after her as he knew she was financially a recent grad with no resources.

There was no hint in the books, unless I missed it, that after the initial attempt to contract her as a sub, which even he realized was dumb after awhile, he was seeing her (by the end) as someone whose services he was paying for.

By the time she walks out the door...errr...elevator...it's morphed from the earlier contractual scenario to a love story and he already was attached to her emotionally.

His thoughts form the novel "GREY"
In my anger I double the amount that Taylor got for the death trap and stuff the check into an envelope.

I have never read any of the "Grey" novels and you have even read the fourth, "Grey." Interesting. You mock the Grey phenomenon endlessly and yet you have delved far deeper into it than many of the posters here. Can you explain why?

It really annoys the fans when i can outsmart them with quotes from the books plus it was fascinating to read his POV, talk about white male privilege LOL!

You select your reading material because you think it will annoy anonymous posters on a movie discussion board.

As I said earlier, congratulations on choosing to post drivel an imdb as your purpose in life.

""Grey" novels" is plural and refers to the series. Did you miss the "any" before ""Grey novels" and the "s?" Context is everything.

Here, let me fix your statement, since we're going there.

"Grey" novels are If you say novels, then you need 'are', not 'is'. plural and refers to the series. Did you miss the 's'? If you ask a question, then you need a question mark. Context is everything.

If you're going to correct someone on their grammar, make sure you use proper grammar, Mr. Yuk.

Again, there's only been one Grey novel. There is Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed. You might be able to say, the Fifty Shades novels, but not the Grey novels, since there is only one. But Grey is it's own series. It's not a continuation after Fifty Shades Freed, it is a beginning of something different, Christian's point of view. Get it now?

Since we're talking about you, it's not tl/dr. More like, tl/cr (too long, can't read).

Lets call it what it is .... she's a slut

God Damn! We just had a near-life experience, fellas.

Can you explain how a woman who has slept with one man in her entire life is a "slut?"

Here, let me fix your sentence. Just real quick, I promise. A question mark goes outside the quotation marks, since you're not quoting a question, but the word itself.

Can you explain how a woman who has slept with one man in her entire life is a "slut"?

See? All better, Mr. Yuk? Carry on 

Those are quotation marks, not parentheses.
