i think you are right...

The movie was actually pretty funny and entertaining---even more so if you're seen all the other Shaft films. I liked seeing all 3 generations of the Shaft men together and taking out the bad guys----that made for a great action climax scene. The joke is that the youngest Shaft is nothing like his father, and how different their approaches are to different situations. I do have to admit, some of dirty jokes were unnecessary, but yeah, this was one entertaining flick, and Sam Jackson killed it in the role as usual. I read that the film was actually more popular overseas, but I'm guessing that it wasn't as big here because a lot of young folks hearing about probably weren't familiar with the character of Shaft anyway. That's just my guess, anyway.
