Does the poor goat get assaulted? (spoiler)

I've been trying to find plot spoilers from the book and/or the film. The new trailer released today teases "you'll all have to f&*^ this goat?"

I feel like everyone watching seems more concerned for the young men's state of mind but I'm worried about the goat. If there are scenes where the poor goat is getting raped by all those frat boys, I'm not sure I can watch.
Can anyone say if the goat's virtue is sullied or not? I just don't think it's fair because the goat didn't ask the join the fraternity and I don't like the way the film frames the moral dilemma as whether Nick Jonas will step up and save his brother as opposed to whether men will sheepishly follow the herd and gangrape a poor goat?!

Please reassure me the goat escapes this peril. Thanks!

No, nothing happens to the goat. And besides, even if something did happen, I highly doubt the director would make the actors actually sexually assault or harm the animal in any way, just for the sake of a movie. It's Hollywood, it's fake.

No one rapes any goats in the book. Some of the pledges steal a goat and keep it outside the fraternity's dorm, but I dont remember anything bad happening to it.

Who knows what will happen in the movie though. I expect they will exaggerate things. I already saw a couple things in the trailers that were not in the book.

the one difference which really bugs me and I don't understand why they've done it is that in the memoir Brad is older than Brett and in an interview Nick Jonas clearly stated that he was the younger brother which is odd as in the film it's apparently the other way round.....it was a more interesting dynamic in that Brad looked up to his younger more popular brother....

reply

So Nick is the older brother in the fraternity and the guy playing brad is younger?

I agree that it changes the dynamic if they do that. In the book, Brad definitely had some confidence issues and a big part of those were caused by trying to live up to the standards that his cooler younger brother set.

Yep, that's what I've taken from the reviews-will wait to see it myself on the 23rd but this seems to be the case....thought it was an odd choice considering Schnetzer (Brad) is a few years older than Jonas anyway....

No I think Nick Jonas was supposed to be the younger brother, its just that he went to university before his brother. At least that was what I thought was supposed to have been the case.

I have known at least one set of brothers like that, where the older brother looked up to his more confident younger brother. It is a weird dynamic, but it happens.
