Can I let my nephew watch? How graphic?
My nephew is 13. He wants to see it. Is it something he can watch or is it too graphic? Language isn't an issue, so it's only cursing I need to be weary of, that's fine.

shareEvery fiber of my being says no, absolutely not, don't let a child watch this movie! But I can't actually make that call it's up to you. I'll just tell you all the red flags I can think of in spoiler brackets and see what you think.
In the beginning two male characters watch two female characters making out, the female characters are aware they are being watched and seem to be willing (although are likely heavily intoxicated). Multiple characters in the scene use cocaine and drink.
The main character is brutally beaten. We see him cough up blood. The physical damage from this beating is very graphic and the black eye, bruises, cuts etc. are shown multiple times in various stages of healing and in a photo on a cracked phone screen. The psychological damage haunts him the entire film.
The brother of the injured character tells him that he went looking for the men who beat him with a knife and that his friend is bringing over his dad's gun. We can assume the characters looking for the men probably don't actually go out with a gun and definitely do not find them.
There is a sex scene where the chests of a male and female character are seen. It's definitely a R-rated sex scene.
A character views a pornographic film, initially members of the audience might think they are watching another sex scene between characters before it's revealed to be a porno.
There is SO MUCH drinking throughout the film.
A character picks up a girl at a bar and they are undressed and about to have sex, her breasts are visible. She changes her mind about the sex, he gets dressed and stumbles out of her dorm room, clearly drunk
Hazing is shown throughout the film. It is brutal and graphic. Characters are made to drink a lot of alcohol, one character vomits, he is put in a dog crate/cage and urinated on. All the characters who are pledging are forced to do lots of things they won't ordinarily. One character is told he is going to eat *beep* and is blindfolding and taken into a bathroom. He is forced to reach into a toilet and grab what the audience can see is a banana but the character believes is feces and then eat it. Through the film, a goat is mentioned and the frat boys tell the pledges they will have to have sex with the goat. In one scene all the pledges are locked in a shed with a keg of beer and told if they don't finish the keg in an hour they will definitely have to have sex with the goat. They finish the keg but vomit a lot in the process. The whole hazing situation is brutal, I can't chronologically list all the stuff that is done to the pledges but this is just a sample
Members of the frat throw various vegetables at the backs of pledges with force. One character is hit in the back of the head and falls down other characters are worried about him yet he says he is fine. It is later revealed that he had a concussion.
A character is told he has to get takeout for a member of the frat but before he has a chance to leave he is tied up with tape covering his eyes, nose, and mouth, and then his hands are also wrapped in tape. He is then told he has an hour to get the takeout (And also obviously untangle himself from the tape).
A young man is seen exercising. He does pushups and then runs on the track. He collapses midrun, has a heart attack and dies. This incident prompts an investigation into the frat's hazing practices.
A student's room is trashed and a goat that has been feed laxatives is left in the room. The goat defecates in the room and RAT *beep* is spray painted on the goat. The character then has to walk the goat across campus and other students are shown laughing
There is a fist fight between members of the frat
I strongly recommend you do not allow your nephew to see this film. He might watch it anyway behind your back but do try to encourage him to wait until he's older. It does not shy away from the subject matter and is very intense and hard to watch.
Why would he want to see this?
shareThe beating near the start of the film is very very violent and very very graphic. Not suitable for a 13 yo IMHO.
shareOh, come on---nobody in their right mind would let a 13 year old see this film---it's not even for kids---the OP has got to be trolling, for real.
