Matt lives with his parents who have a HUGE home. Why is he staying in the garage?

OK, thanks for that. Why WAS he living in the garage? It just didn't make sense.

They explained it in a season one episode, but I don't remember what the explanation was. I think he wanted the privacy of having a separate entrance - when he was staying in the room, I seem to recall something mortifying happening to him with his parents.

He claimed having his old bedroom was "too permanent". He wanted something more temporary, so he would be more tempted to move into his own place....
