Big change from the first season - not a spoiler

On the first season the winner of each episodes "big bake" won a prize (trip to NYC for 3 days), Dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant, invitations to Food Network events, etc. I wonder why they didn't do any of that this season? The only "prize" that was offered, was on the first episode, and it gave the winner a cream pie to smush in Duff's face. What the hell is that?!

However, the cash prize this season is more than twice the first season's prize. Which season would you rather have won?
