The cadaver note

I think people are giving Durst too much credit by suggesting he cared about Susan, so he wrote the note so her body wouldn't lie there rotting.

He wrote the note purely as an alibi. He even said it. "How could I travel from x to y to x to y again". It makes it look like if he couldn't of got to LA and back again the he couldn't write the note.

But we now know better.

Good point. I guess people want to see *some* kind of humanity in him. Ultimately, his attempt at an alibi might lead to his downfall.

reply

How is that an alibi? His whereabouts are unaccounted for.

It's no big deal to drive from the Bay Area to Los Angeles and back, especially arriving late at night or on the weekend. It's only about a twelve-hour drive on I-5. It's less than 800 miles.

I'm sorry the Coen brothers don't direct the porn I watch. They're hard to get ahold of, okay?

reply

Exactly -- a round trip. I went to college in the Bay Area (Berkeley) and drove home to LA on various weekends and holidays. You drive on I5 and it takes about 5 1/2 hours each way. He could have driven this easily.

"Hearts and kidneys are tinker toys! I am talking about the central nervous system!"

reply

I can't believe he was stupid enough to use his own handwriting

reply

The note was anonymous, which completely defeats the purpose of an alibi in tying down a specific person to a location and time.

And it's not far-fetched that Bob would have feelings his spokesperson and longtime confidante, and not want to see her body rot. Also, note how he wants to keep the picture of Susan provided to him by the filmmakers in the last episode.

Please learn the difference between "of" and "have." And try to make sense next time.

The death of Durst's own mother was a catastrophic event for him. Perhaps he wrote the note because he didn't like the thought of her kids discovering the body. He also kept in contact with her son and sent him to college. That smacks of guilt, or at least some kind of negative emotions conjured by what he'd done.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the whole "watched my mother commit suicide" story comes from Durst, someone who isn't known for telling the truth. Everyone else denies the story, so take from that of what you will...

reply

I don't know if his story is true, but regardless I think having a parent commit suicide at such a young age must have had a huge impact on his life.

You mean that the whole family stand by the story that she fell from the roof?
