Jore-El Created Brainiac and The Phantom Zone...

...so how do they both exist before he's even born?

reply

I can't speak to recent events in the comics as I've only read a few in the last 20 years. However, originally at least, Braniac certainly was not created by Jor-el. Braniac was from the planet Colu. At first he was depicted as a Coluian man, but soon was changed to a agent of the computer rulers of Colu. (Braniac 5 of the Legion of Super Heroes is a descendent of a Coluian boy adopted by Braniac as camouflage.

As for the Phantom Zone: it is a place. It was not created by Jor-el. In at least some of the comics he discovered it.

reply

Yes, discovered the phantom zone. My post was horribly worded. Jor-el discovered the phantom zone. How does the knowledge of it exist in this show?

As for Brainiac, it, being the creation of Jor-el has been the recent most origin in the TV universe. Animated Series, live action (Smallville), etc. The comics also had multiple different origins, including the one you mentioned.

I guess that does and doesn't answer my question. The constant changing story arcs, so drastically, really makes no sense. It's been done so much and so often, it makes no difference which was first.

This is a huge reason I stopped reading and collecting comics.

That was Jor-El II and he discovered The Phantom Zone not created it. Braniac was Braniac and was not created by Jor-El II either but was from the planet Colu. Nowhere in the comics, animation etc. was there a mention of him being created by him. Where in the hell did you find your information?

Just finished ep 2. Val-El discovered The Phantom Zone and not Jor-El in this show.

Also in this show, the skinny black warrior woman defeats the commanding officer buffed white man even though she's completely getting her ass kicked and bleeding on the first few hits.

Nowhere? Really? If you have to ask that, you clearly have no knowledge of the animated series. Like I said, what I know about Brainiac comes from the TV platform, not the comics. The comics have too many versions to keep up with. TV is more recent, whether or not it's the most popular..

That said in the animated series, Brainiac was either built by Jor-El, or other inhabitants of Krypton. He started as a super computer. The origin is almost the same on Smallville. He was built by Jor-El, according to Supergirl.

In any case, that's where I obtained the information. Just because it's information you're unfamiliar with, doesn't make it non-existent.

These may not be the origins you're familiar with, going back to almost 80 years in comics, but these are the origins writers provided more recently, via a platform, more people view.

My initial question was in contrast to the recent origins shown on TV. On a side note, if you'd read all the posts, you'd already have seen I acknowledged I meant to say discovered, but inadvertantly omitted the word, when mentioning the phantom zone.

reply

I base my information on written information, none of which has mentioned anything that you've mentioned that Jor-El had created Brainiac. Please provide proof of said remark then I can see where this crap is coming from (TV) and not what you thought you heard or seen. Has nothing to do with what origins I am familiar with since I am not familiar with any of it until I started reading up on it after seeing your thread about it to see if any of it was true which in this case, none of it was.

I haven't watched the TV shows. But a search does indicate that at least one of the animated TV versions does have Braniac being a construction of the Kryptonians. Having said that, I don't think a single example outweighs eighty years of continuity across multiple platforms that Braniac is from Colu.

I don't disagree, though even that origin has changed in the comics. There have been multiple different origins in the comics alone.

Regardless, I'm of the same mind that whichever was the longest running story should be the accepted version, which disqualifies the 2 shows I mentioned.

reply

I already gave you 2 examples of television shows that had Jor-El creating Brainiac. You want to verify, learn how to use Google. The other poster had no problem finding the information. I'm not your mommy. I'm not cutting your meat for you.

reply

2 examples, none of which give evidence of Jor-El creating Brainiac. Animated was by Krytonians, never indicating Jor-El himself and the TV show only mentioned it in one episode where it was later contradicted by a later episode. So again, provide proof that JOR-Mutha-Effin-El created Brainac.

And I can pinpoint the link you got your info from. Way down at the bottom....other media. At least you're learning to research and verify all on your own. And it was far from one episode, and the contradiction was wrong. Don't make conclusions based on a blurb about something you're unfamiliar with. It makes you look foolish.

I'll take it though. It was put in film. Period. There's nothing left to say. You saw the proof yourself. Now you just come across as desperate.

Sorry, I don't watch teen flick re-imagined superhero shows normalized to the point it being just another teen flick series with a DC logo slapped on it and jumped the gun with your self-claimed still un-fixed title of Jor-El creating the Phantom Zone. Frankly I don't really care either way since I already dropped this series after the first 2 episodes (though the CGI looks pretty good on Brainac) seeing as it's just another teen flick re-imagined but this time on Krypton.

Whatever. Bashing everything because you were wrong doesn't change the facts. Accept it like a grown up. Otherwise you're simply embarrassing yourself.
