I just finished watching the first episode and man! All the characters are unlikable. Although it's just a set-up episode, I couldn't believe the protagonist would just ignore Julia's request for him to ask the school to test her again. He wasn't consoling her or anything and was bloody cold about it. "You have a life here. Even though you just saw magic, you just have to live your rest of your life ignoring this fact".

I agree with all you said. Everyone of them is a douche. All too self-absorbed, vain and douchey to be selected to some elite magic school, let alone Ivy league. Stupid special FX. The black guy and the chick he laid..She's a typical bimbo..Levitating sex (while fully dressed I might ad) really? While that might present some physics issues, why would spoons and random objects levitate too? Sill, stupid show. I couldn't finish the first episode.

I concur and that's why I came to IMDB today: to see if anyone else thought these characters were douches. They are all so annoying. (Just finished episode 3.)
shareI found it really annoying that the two main characters were all "If i don't get into magic school, I can't go back to Yale, a school that would be an amazing privilege that many cannot afford in an of itself which would provide me with a lifetime of opportunity." What pricks. If the thought of going to Yale makes you cut your arms and huddle in a self pitying ball in your bedroom, find a mirror, look at your whiney self and punch it hard.
