Hogwart as a kid or brakebills now?

Which is your favourite? I prefer brakebills way more than hogwarts because it sound like people learn there and im pretty sure that Harry stoped attending class in goblet of fire but he was able to defeat a dark immortal lord, so he was basically spining the wheels till graduation after winning the cup. Brakebills magic is hard and it's takes time in stages with real consequences if you mess up a spell or pull a prank. P.s. No idea what adults in do after hogwarts

Yeah Breakbills feels like a better fit for me.

Brakebills, definitely. The only reason I'd even think of choosing Hogwarts is because magic is easier there, and I'm a lazy bastard.

To OP, the movies and books show tons of employment for adult wizards (in both the magic and muggle world), therefore I don't know what you mean by saying you don't know what they do after leaving Hogwarts.

I kind of feel that Brakebills is kind of like the University after the students graduated Hogwarts. I like the two for different reasons and in different ways.

One thing I disliked about Hogwarts is that the kids basically just graduate High School and are thrust out into the world without any system in place to learn more. Well, that and the Weasleys shouldn't have been poor--no one should have been with their talent for magic. I'd want to stay longer and maybe do...an apprenticeship?

Making Brakebills a graduate college feels better because the characters bring some maturity. So, graduate from Hogwarts and then go to Brakebills?

They get on-the-job training in whatever job they choose. Like an apprenticeship.

Yeah, I just would rather keep going to school.

Why? Working would be more fun. Not that I'd be working for a living if I were a wizard.

The book explains Brakebills a little bit better. Magic is something that tends to come along later in their teen years if I remember correctly. Also, upon graduating, you won't become a poor magician like the Weaseleys in Harry Potter.

Hogwarts now.

Hogwarts now.

Why? Brakebills looks like way more of a laugh.

I'm greedy. I want both. 😊

Brakebills seems even more dangerous than Hogwarts, so I'd choose Hogwarts. The only downside would be having to move to a whole different country.

Very interesting question!!

im pretty sure that Harry stoped attending class in goblet of fire but he was able to defeat a dark immortal lord

LOL yeah that bothered me a lot how Harry never really succeeded based on his own competency as a wizard. There always seemed to be rare circumstances/helpful friends/luck that played well in his favor. I recently watched the first 2 Harry Potter movies with my little sisters and it was hilarious looking at it from an adult perspective now. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are these bright-eyed little first-years, they barely know anything, and yet they manage to get past every level of protection that Dumbledore (the so-called "Greatest wizard that ever lived") and his teachers could muster for protecting the Philospher's stone. They end up saving the day, with cheers all around! So laughable! It WAS a kids book though, so it's somewhat understandable.

Back to your question.. I would like to read the Magicians series of books before making a final choice. From what I've seen Brakebills and Hogwards (with the corresponding magical worlds they're embedded in) both have their merits.

Right now I think I would choose Hogwards. It seems to have an overall lighter, warmer, friendlier tone. I also felt like the world of HP was really well fleshed out, with SOO many magical things to do. There would be SO much to do as an adult after Hogwarts.

I do like how Brakebills magic uses intricate hand and arm motions. Although as we saw in the show, this means the hands were a primary target for battle-magic, with several of the magicians suffering horrific and crippling attacks to their hands, rendering them virtually useless within the opening seconds of a battle. No fun.

Right now, I choose Hogwarts. But this makes me want to read the Magicians books and see what else that world might have to offer.
