2 years??
All these shows are leaving years between seasons and they lose viewers. It might save money but whats more important, saving a little money or not losing your viewers?

shareI'm sorry but your calculations are way off. It's not 2 years between seasons. The time measured from one season to another is from the air date of the last episode of the previous season to the air date of the first episode of the next season. For The Magicians this means the last episode of the first season to the first episode of the second season. The last episode of season 1 aired on July 29th 2016. The new season begins in January 2017. That is only 5 months between seasons not 2 years.
However even following your false logic of time measured between seasons as being from the first episode of one season to the first episode of the next it is still not 2 years. The first episode of season 1 aired in December 2015 which would make the time between seasons from the first episode of season 1 to the first episode of season 2 only 1 year not 2. For the time to be 2 years the first episode of season 1 would have to have aired in January 2015 which it did not.
This.
shareExactly! Thanks for explaining it to the OP in a knowledgeable, patient, and kind way. Others would have made a snarky comment. <<applause >>
shareBetter check your hypotenuses, your calculations were way off.
shareSeason 1: 16 Dec, 2015 to 29 July, 2016
Season 2: Starts 25 Jan, 2017
So about 180 days (or approx 6 months) between S01 and S02.
