Anybody Else Find Julia And Her Storyline The Most Interesting?

No disrespect to the show and the other characters, but I gotta say instead of caring for the characters more as the show went on, I started to care for them less. (Especially after they all slept with each other ) Julia however surely had her ups and downs/flaws, but she has consistently been the most interesting character and favorite from the very begging to end. Maybe I'm a sucker for the underdog, but I found Julia's journey and struggle to be the most entertaining, and is what really kept me continuing the show.

Thoughts...?

I didn't really find her storyline interesting until she joined up with Quentin. I agree that his storyline wasn't always the most exciting, but The Beast was tied into it. So, that was the one I always looked forward to the most. That being said, I did like Julia more as a character than Quentin or most of the Brakebills crew. Penny was always a dick for no reason. Quentin wasn't really that enjoyable of a character either. Margo and Elliot were ok at times as was Alice(other times they were annoying). Although the couple of occasions when he pulled off magic that was seemingly beyond his level of competence was enjoyable(battle magic against Penny and The Beast puppet and that weird black hole magic during the not-chess game that made no sense).

I'm the same where I liked Julia's character more than the others but not her storyline.

I could have liked her storyline more but the show rushed it terribly. The way they brought that group (can't remember the name) of magic users in and killed them off so quickly. Lots of things were just rushed in her story.

I thought that Julia's was the most interesting story line in the books and they completely screwed it up in the show (then again, that Reynard scene in book two screwed it up too, and they kept that in the show).

I'm more interested in Penny's but that could just be because I have a bit of a crush on him and he's not so whiny like the rest of them.

reply

Yeah she is my favorite together with fun Margo and tough Kady. Somehow I could relate to her motivations, while I constantly wanted to slap all three males.

Especially Elliot when they were in the Neitherlands. First he gets them thrown out of the library, then he gets high off the carrots and almost gets them all killed. Even if it did help them later. It was still a really dumb thing to do.

To me, Alice, Julia, and Margo are the best story lines and characters. Penny is interesting and totally enhanced by the actor who blew me away. I love Eliott too. Hard to know when he's going to be selfish and when he's going to make sacrifices for others.

NO!
Not the least. She was a whiny egoistic slut and I didn't understand why she was even on the show. Every single scene she was in she needed the world to revolve around her and it was oddly satisfying watching her get her overused vagina drenched in fox c*m.

Charming! I can only remember her sleeping with her original BF and possibly Richard. Hardly a slut.

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

Yes she slept with her BF, then she slept with Pete while still together with her BF only to get a hold of some magic, she was hinting that she would throw her "cat" at the dude behind the bar at the other magic place, then she slept Richard... so yeah. No "opensesame" magic needed on her vagina.

So 3 people in - what? 4 or 5 years? One of them was when she was strung out on magic (which was clearly meant to act like a particularly potent drug to the Hedge Witches).

Quentin also slept with 3 people and who knows how notches Eliot and Margo added to their bedpost in that time, but you're singling out Julia?

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

4-5 years?
The show takes place over a few months, or weeks from what I can tell. And yes, she slept with people only to get a hold of magic. That makes her nasty.

Quentin slept with Alice, whom he had a relationship with. And some drunken thing with Eliot and Margo. Hardly the same as using a guy who likes you, cheat on your boyfriend to get a spell?
Eliot slept with Mike, whom he had a relationship with.
And we don't se Margo sleep with anyone.

I'm not judging them for sleeping with someone, it's Julia's reasons that makes her nasty.

The course at Brakebills is 3 years.

Julia used what she had to feed her addiction; I doubt she felt good about it.

Eliot slept with Mike, Quentin, Margo and many others off-camera.

Margo slept with Eliot and Quentin (at the same time), the genie, Margolem and it's implied many others.

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

reply

But they haven't graduated, so it hasn't been 3 years.

Who cares if she felt good about it, just because you whore yourself for crack doesn't mean you are a good person. I find her nasty, and up until the last episode useless to the whole show.

Hey dickhead, by posting your retarded ass thoughts on a public forum you are tacitly approving people to respond, especially if you say something as gross as you did.

It is the very ppl like him are the reason we are getting the ENTIRE IMDB boards wiped out, never to return again. Not even archives-- they are GONE on Feb 19

reply

Agreed.

The Reynard scene/stuff about summoning "gods" is easily the most profound part of the novels, and so far the most "mysterious" in the show. I really enjoy it. Learning magic and what it's really about outside of the school has a lot of depth.

reply

Completely agree with you OP, I found Julia and her story to be the most interesting and she, along with Penny, was what kept me watching the show.

reply

Funny because I really love her character on TV, in the books I was kind of bored with her whole rebellion and dark magic.

reply

I don't find her storyline interesting since it's repetitive. She keeps making the same bad decisions over and over again by getting in league with bad people - only to have it blow up in her face. First it was the underground magicians, then it was the white robe cult, and now it's the Beast. Lather, rinse, repeat.
