How old is jimmy supposed to be?

The actor was 29 in season 1 and 35 now and he looks almost as old as costner, he was already balding in season 1. But he was a virgin and everybody calls him kid, so is he supposed to be like 18-19?

Isnt there some official info somewhere? It is a pretty bad casting for someone that is supposed to be that young.

And I agree the casting for the show is terrible. Everyone looks much older than what they are supposed to be.

I am now in season 4, where summer character is introduced, the actress piper perabo will be 48 in less than 2 months.

So in a conversation with beth which is the same age, beth tells her something along the lines that she is a child that can protest because her parent pay her bills and bail her out. This dialogue would make a lot of sense if Summer was 20 and a college student with no life experience but she an almost 50yo woman. Then she gets arrested and costner talks to beth and tells her, you used that girl, again as if he was talking about a kid.

I am not stupid, I know we see 25-30yo actors playing younger kids in every single movie ever made but this show is taking it too far. Why hire someone who is almost 50 for something that is meant for a naive college student?

Costner himself is considerably older than the character he is playing which adds to the confusion.

I was confused by Summer too. I meant to believe she is college age? If so they failed. She doesn’t even look 30’s.

So what we have is a character that looks 50 acts 20. It’s the same with Beth.

I guess with Jimmy who mentioned in the opening thread you could blame his older appearance on being a junkie. But even that is pushing it.

Not really John Dutton is 64 and Costnet 69, pretty close. You really hate beth dont you? LOL. Beth in the show is born on 84, so she is a 40yo character played by a 47yo woman, it is not such a big age discrepancy either and people dont talk about her like being a kid either. I have no idea how old Summer is supposed to be but people around her talks as she was a child.

Beth gives me the shits yes. The temper tantrums and over the top aggression. She’s like a baby.

I still think the actress herself looks way older than the character she plays.

I thought I heard in the show that Dutton was supposed to be a little younger. It was mentioned regarding the Summer character.

I find the casting for this show really bad in terms of the characters ages vs how old the actors look.

Beth is meant to be in her 30’s but looks nearly 50 as per the actress who plays her.

It makes it confusing in terms of trying to understand why characters are called kid as the OP says or behave so immature as per Beth.

I think Beth is supposed to be 36 in season 1, actress was 41 in 2018 and probably 40 when she filmed. 36 and 40 is pretty close. I dont agree she looks 50. Now in 2024 she is 47 maybe but not in season 1. Rip is also beth's age or a year older and the actor also close to 50. But I dont really care with the rest of the cast, in jimmy's case it is really weird with how dumb he is and everyone calling him kid and he looks 50...

I think Jimmy is supposed to be early 20s despite what the actor is. You might be surprised how many 20 something guys are virgins. Rizzo was like 35 and was suppsed to be a teenager in Grease.
