So, will they stop the individual shows and just run this one?
Once it finally happens? Like are the other shows just going to be basically origin stories and then it'll just be this show afterwards?

shareIt doesnt sound like they will be, but i suspect it would depend on popularity.
shareA second season of Daredevil has already been announced, so the answer is no. Daredevil's solo series will continue. Whether the other series preform well enough to warrant a second season remains to be seen.

The sun is shining... but the ice is slippery.
which comes out before the Defenders, so has no bearing on the OP.
shareIt's a mini series
shareIts a mini series and will probably be 6-8 episodes. So it will not affect the other solo series which are 13 episodes.
Though it might delay further seasons of the main shows for a few months in order to work filming around it.
That would be a genius idea. Give each character a whole season run as an origin story to set them up for the group series.
shareHell yeah. I'm so glad I'm alive to see this all happening. These are shows that would have been impossible to make 20-30 years ago. Everyone having a season and a once a year 6-8 episode collaboration where they all go up against the same villain would be sick.

I wonder what the roadmap is after the Defenders. It seems like it would be weird to go back to individual series after the Defenders. And it would also kind of be a bit repetitive.
Seems like the sensible thing to do would be do bring in new characters with their own series, and keep the defenders going. Or maybe they will start doing films. Who knows.
It seems like it would be weird to go back to individual series after the Defenders.
Think about it though, the first two Iron Man films were before the Avengers. The third Captain America and Thor films are going to be half teamup films.
You also have the fact that the Avengers are taking place accross the whole planet and sometimes in other galaxies and universes.
Iron Man 3 and Winter soldier took place over a couple of days. So it's conceivable for no interaction to take place on that time scale. Thor took place largely in another realm.
Now you have TV series that take place over a longer time period, and in the same city.
And again keep in mind that they pretty much only managed to keep the solo movies seperate for one movie apiece after the Avengers.
You could maybe have Daredevil series that takes place over a few days, and have some plot device that prevents him from contacting other Defenders. But that would wear thin pretty quickly.
Also, in the films they are pretty much going along the lines of ending the solo movies for the original characters and beginning solo movies for characters who are not yet Avengers.
All great points I guess, but back to the OP's question, it all depends on what the Defenders season 1 is like. If they literally all move into the same office space, call themselves "the Defenders" and get matching coffee mugs then yeah, it would be odd to have the individual series continue. But as has happened with much of the titling in the MCU, maybe the "Defenders" tag is really just a way to name a story that includes them all.
Not every situation calls for everyone to call all their friends. When you move, you call all your friends but if you have to shovel the driveway you don't. If it's a huge snowstorm you might call a nearby friend to help or one with a snowblower.
These heroes (movie or Netflix) are similar it's just that what they deal with is way bigger. If season 1 of Defenders is about them all joining to take down IGH or something and they do that, then I could easily see another season of Daredevil where Kingpin is trying to take him out and just as easily see Matt not wanting to put others in harm's way and handle it himself. Or if after IW Banner is still trying to "cure" himself he could run off only to be tormented by The Leader etc.
They don't need plot devices to do solo stories as much as just good solo stories. Yes, there will often be cameos from other characters and probably confused IMDB posters saying "why didn't he/she just call so-and-so?" but if they have a good idea for another season of Luke Cage that's better than their best idea for another season of Defenders, they'll do the Luke Cage one.
Reading my signature constitutes admission that I am correct. (Too late)
only reason for me to watch is daredevil I'd consider Jessica Jones, Luke cage and iron fist part of the support team for daredevil
shareMy guess is that it'll be similar to The Avengers series. Wherein, they each have their individual series (or individual movie in the case of Avengers), then perhaps have 1 season of The Defenders, then return to their regularly scheduled individual series. At some point in the future there will probably be a 2nd season of The Defenders, much like the second Avengers movie. At least, that's how I would do it if it were me making decisions.
shareOnce they got all the series running I am betting on a Defenders miniseries every 18 months and with new showrunners each time.
