I hope Matt gives Jessica a lot of crap for
snapping Kilgrave's neck.
This needs to happen.
Feminism is cancer.

How would he know though?
I can't see Jessica introducing herself by saying.
"Hi, I'm Jessica and I snapped someone's after all my contrived plans failed to bring him to justice."
Jessica did get arrested after killing him, so it might've made the news. Since she only killed him out of desperation and Matt has also made similar choices, I doubt he'd have that much of a problem. Jessica isn't The Punisher.

It was mentioned by a politician in luke cage, I think it was pretty popular in the news.
sharehahaha, imagining it made me laugh already
If people were trying to bring you DOWN, that means you were ABOVE them.
No. He has no moral ground to stand above her. JJ killed a Super as a last resort using deception and surprise, at a time of immediate chaos and mind-controlled mass killing. She (and anyone else, for that matter), really had no other option, all things considered. She did everything she could up to that point to avoid killing anyone, for any reason. Kilgrave was not redeemable, had zero regard for innocent life, and the only time he prevented death were lives he didn't cause into peril (family murder/suicide attempt), which was coerced by JJ. Had she taken one of the many previous opportunities to end him, how many innocents would not have died?
DD attempted homicide upon a non-Super mob-boss for vengeance, despite his no-kill moral statements.
All of the Supers have, and will, cause death, directly or indirectly, by their action or inaction. Not unlike any being acting honorably, in good faith. It isn't a moral argument, absent malice.
Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.

But he recognized that mistake almost immediately after, and it didn't stop him from preaching to Castle about how not even the lowest of scum are beyond redemption.

I'm not disagreeing with the facts. The only significant difference between DD's and JJ's actions was, JJ was successful and DD was not. Remorse after the fact is irrelevant at the moment of the (attempted) act, and the factual outcome very often has a great effect on one's expression of remorse. As I recall, JJ was at least equally remorseful at taking a life, as DD was at a mere failed attempt. In most systems of law, a lawful or unlawful attempt is equally judged as a success. It is morally, socially, and lawfully acceptable within most all systems of beliefs and law, to stop the murderous actions of a tyrant by any reasonable means necessary, up to and including homicide of the tyrant. I agree with that, and so did Gandhi. In every system of law exists criminal exceptions for excusable/justifiable homicide. Had DD been successful, I fully believe he would have been morally and legally justified, considering the totality of circumstances (script notwithstanding). This speaks nothing of his personal moral judgment upon himself. His priest expressed much the same, in both respects.
During the scene with DD, Castle and Grotto, DD did make his "everyone is redeemable" speech. However, the subject of redemption (Grotto) was not, at the time, committing any act upon another. Castle, on the other hand, was enacting what he believed to be "an eye for an eye", for Grotto's mere association with those responsible for his family's death. Had DD been present during Grotto's heinous act (killing of an elderly woman to conceal his identity), DD's expression of that belief may have been very different, at that time.

He also dropped an undead ninja off a building, after having set him on fire previously. Just Matt's encounters with Nobu (especially the first time) are enough to make him mildly hypocritical.
shareMatt fully intended to kill Nobu. Heck, as far as he knows he did kill him unless Stick told him otherwise. I'm sure he'd sympathise with Jessica.
shareTo be fair, he knows Nobu came back from the dead once and in his fight in the sewers, he saw Nobu heal from a fall and come back. He probably figured (rightly), that Nobu could survive a dump off a roof.
That said, I think he'd still sympathize with Jessica. So far, all the Defenders seem to have a strong no-kill policy.
Why?
I mean yes, everyone is against killing people willy-nilly.
But this guy killed HUNDREDS of people, sometimes merely because they were an inconvenience.
He raped Jessica repeatedly, and had just stated the intent to do the same to Jessica's sister.
He himself had been affected by Kilgrave's control and knew how destructive and impossible to fight it was.
Kilgrave killed his wife (for all intents and purposes) (regardless of what we find out about Reva later)
I honestly can't see Luke being too upset.
Nah... Mercy is for the strong. The more powerful you are, the more capacity for it you need... it is therefore directly proportional to the level of power your adversary has. Kilgrave is too powerful & dangerous to be contain without inflict massive collateral damage along the way & more so after.
