I hope that the Defenders is similar to Marvel Knights.

I hope that the Defenders is similar to the comic book Marvel Knights. That would have Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all team-up in order to try to stop the Punisher due to the Punisher being way too dangerous to be allowed to exist. That would really give the street-level appearance and attitude of the series the same look and feel of the Marvel Knights comic book from the Marvel Comics Marvel Knights and Marvel Max subsidiaries which were comic books and graphic novels that were suggested for mature readers only.

The Marvel Knights anti-hero team in the comic book was slightly different of course due to certain members of the team being in the comics who are not going to be in the live action T.V. series. Such as the Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, and Cloak and Dagger, for example. With the changes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when compared to the origins of the characters from the comic book canon however, the Black Widow is restricted to the Avengers live action movies, and Cloak and Dagger have been reincarnated in the M.C.U. as characters for a teen program on Freeform. While Shang-Chi and Moon Knight may be able to appear in the Marvel/Netflix original series, they are more than likely not going to factor into the television shows until 2018.

I understand that the plot will not be the same as the Marvel Knights comic book in the Defenders show, but I would at least hope that it gives a nod to it. Like the team going after the Punisher at first but then reluctantly becoming his allies due to the threat of the main villain in the story, who is a much worse antagonist that is way too powerful to be allowed to live.

This series potentially could set a new standard if the Marvel Television Universe plays its cards right. An epic blood-crazed battle between the first four founding members of the Defenders, with their allies Stick, Stone and the other members of the Chaste, and the Punisher, all fighting against the Hand Ninja cult, Elektra magically resurrected and mentally possessed by the demon called the Beast, as the demonic host body called the Black Sky, and anyone else who is part of the conflict as the Defenders' arch-enemies, all in the middle of Hell's Kitchen. That would be equal to the Avengers fighting Loki and the Chitauri in midtown Manhattan.

That's what I want to see. Something on that level. That would impress me.
