There's a hell of a lot of posts here about Courtney Love mentioning she was "thinking about" cheating on Kurt before his first suicide attempt in Rome.

I'm going to sound cold here but, so what if she did? People get cheated on every day by their partners but they don't go and kill themselves over it. This is the rock n roll world where cheating is rife! If Courtney cheated on Kurt, yes it's not a nice thing to do, but you do not deserve to have the guilt of death hanging over your head for the rest of your life. They were in their 20's, living the rock n roll lifestyle. She should not be burnt at the stake for this... "If she floats then she is not, a witch like we had thought"

I don't necessarily disagree with the OP, except that people commit murder and suicide because of cheating fairly often. I knew a guy that I worked with that found out his wife was cheating on him, so he blew her brains out with a shotgun before putting the gun in his mouth and blowing his own brains out. I don't know if you've ever been in a room where someone blew their own brains out with a shotgun, but it is very messy.

The problem is that she knew how vulnerable Kurt was, mind you I did not say innocent. But she knew he was insecure and vulnerable. And I think she used that to her advantage. She even said that she had a different idea of monogamy than Kurt. Ask yourself this, why hasn't she ever re-married?

Always look for the positive in every situation.

I don't understand why you relate "mental illness" with "infidelity".
Courtney said that weird thing that Kurt almost read her thoughts about her wanting to cheat on him so that's why he OD in Rome, but that's just Courtney's words. SHE is the one who feels guilt about it.

People say: But she was banging Billy Corgan when Rome happened". I don't know.
I remember that I read back in the day that Courtney was cheating on Kurt with Evan Dando. I don't know neither.
Kurt had fewer relationships, but he did cheat on Tracey with Tobi. I think that Courtney being more open sexually doesn't mean she MUST have cheated on him. Maybe she did it (she cheated on her first husband, she cheated on Edward Norton, and so on), I don't think it's relevant. Courtney made it relevant because of the interview and the director made it relevant choosing to put it in the final cut.

Kurt's inestability is something that began in his early teens and got worsen with heroin adiction. Infidelity has nothing to do with it. BETRAYAL is an issue, though.

Well ... everyone has their own opinions, of course, but if a woman is in a relationship with a guy who she knows is sensitive, damaged, has a kid with her , etc, etc, etc, then why cheat in the first place ?
People get cheated every day, but the cheater has a choice. Either stay the hell away from those kind of situations, or .. play with fire .
In this case tho ... dunno if she cheated or not, and i m not one to judge .. But if she did, knowing Kurt .. and his issues ? That's just .. plain cruel.
That's just my 2 cents, but I believe we all have choices ey
